SEND Testing & Dyslexia Assessment
LexAbility provides evidence-informed SEND assessments for children, young people and adults across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Led by a Level 7 qualified specialist assessor, our assessment services help families, schools and professionals understand a learner’s strengths, barriers to learning and practical next steps.
We offer diagnostic dyslexia assessments, support with exam access-arrangements evidence, and strengths-based neurodiversity learning profiles. Every assessment is personalised, clear and focused on useful recommendations for education, learning and day-to-day support.
Exam Access Arrangements Assessments
For secondary-school and college learners who may need reasonable adjustments in internal or external examinations. LexAbility provides specialist assessment and evidence to support schools and colleges with their access-arrangements process. This may include standardised assessment, a review of learning needs, and reporting that contributes to the centre’s evidence gathering for JCQ forms. Access arrangements must reflect the learner’s established normal way of working in school or college and remain the decision and responsibility of the exam centre. We work collaboratively with SENCos, teachers and families to help ensure evidence is clear, current and appropriate. Possible areas explored * Reading accuracy, speed and comprehension * Writing speed, spelling and processing needs * Working memory and cognitive-processing indicators * Potential evidence for extra time, a reader, a scribe, a word processor, rest breaks or other reasonable adjustments, subject to the school’s JCQ process
Diagnostic Dyslexia Assessments
A detailed assessment for children, young people and adults who may have dyslexic difficulties. A diagnostic dyslexia assessment explores an individual’s literacy profile, including reading, spelling, writing and relevant cognitive-processing skills. The written report identifies strengths and barriers, considers whether findings are consistent with dyslexia, and provides practical recommendations for education, learning and day-to-day support. The assessment can support * Personalised dyslexia support and specialist tutoring * School, college or university discussions about reasonable adjustments * A clearer evidence base for SEND planning or wider professional conversations * Confidence-building, strengths-based learning strategies
Neurodiversity Learning Profile
A strengths-based educational review for practical next-step planning. This service considers learning preferences, communication, attention, executive functioning, sensory needs and engagement. It is not a medical diagnosis of autism or ADHD. It gives parents, schools and professionals a clear summary of strengths, barriers and practical strategies, with signposting where clinical or specialist input may be appropriate.
